Biography
Dr. Yang specializes in acute care surgery, trauma and surgical intensive care. He is especially interested in robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery (cholecystectomy, abdominal wall hernia repair and hiatal hernia repair) and is in charge of resident training in robotic surgery at UVA. His research program, funded by the National Institutes of Health, focuses on septic shock and acute myocardial ischemia and protection.
Dr. Yang was born and grew up in Beijing, China. He attended undergraduate and medical school at Beijing Medical University, and came to Charlottesville for a surgery residency and surgical critical care fellowship at UVA. Following his fellowship training, he joined the UVA faculty in the Department of Surgery in 2011.
Outside of work, Dr. Yang loves spending time with his family and playing tennis and table tennis.
