As a clinical researcher, Dr. Showalter is focused on improving outcomes for patients with high-risk prostate cancer, developing more effective and convenient radiation therapy schedules, and evaluating advanced technologies for brachytherapy and external beam radiation therapy.
Dr. Showalter’s research has resulted in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national meetings, and he is the recipient of a Young Investigator Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation to support his career development as a prostate cancer researcher. He was a faculty member at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia prior to his start at UVA in August 2012.
