Biography

Sarah L. W. Elliott serves the Darden School as assistant dean of student affairs. Elliott provides personal and academic advising to 650 residential MBA students, oversees the student and service awards process, and is a student advocate on Darden and UVA committees. She came to Darden in 2009 as the assistant director of student affairs and became associate director one year later.

Prior to this position, Elliott was an assistant dean in UVA’s Office of the Dean of Students from 2006–09. As a student affairs professional, she has also worked in diversity programming and residence life at the College of William & Mary and Northern Arizona University.

Elliott received a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2001 and a master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State University in 2003. Elliott lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with her husband, Chris, who is assistant dean of global affairs at the UVA McIntire School of Commerce.

This course is designed to provide a forum for student leaders to talk about the challenges and rewards of leadership at Darden. Enrolling students should have a clear commitment to a practical leadership experience during their second year. Selected readings in the leadership and social psychology literature serve as frameworks for examining one's personal leadership style. Prerequisite: Restricted to Darden students.
